  I'm a Democrat, and I strongly feel this incident should not be used to table the gun control issue. Nor do I feel gun control would help. The problem is with Americans themselves. As a people, we seem to feel that arms are a legitimate way to solve problems, and we have neurotic fears about the government. We have a cowboy mentality that just is not found in other cultures.

  The problem isn't guns. The problem is the fact that Americans have 'issues.' Since it is a mental/emotional problem, we will never be able to formulate a legislative solution.

  i think this is a very sad thing to happen in this country.

  the fact though, that they say this person was doing it for political reasons and frustration.

  is a sign of what this world has become in an internet society.

  I don't think he is as deranged as people are saying, though he was showing signs of mental instability. He had the mental clarity to immediately invoke his 5th Amendment rights upon arrest. THAT will be used as evidence against him if he asserts an insanity plea.

  Also, there is evidence that he had been in prior contact with the Congresswoman's office seeking to set-up a meeting. That will likely be used as evidence of pre-meditation.

  Both of these argue against a simple desire for fame.

  Of course it doesn't. The fact that you choose to focus on a single word, rather than the argument, proves it. Your only rebuttal is my choice of words. You posted Palin's map on page 1 to create a guilt by association. That is bullshit, as has been demonstrated.

  Of course...it does. In fact, the response of choice for those who have no logical response to an argument is to curse and engage in name-calling, which is your general response of choice.   I'm going to repost my analysis. If you would like to logically and unemotionally comment on the analysis, feel free. If you would like to try to replace logic and reason with sarcastic name-calling, feel even more free to do that. I particularly enjoy it when you make a fool of yourself.

  Define "are responsible." You are perhaps correct in only the narrowest of intepretations of the word "responsibility." Are they directly responsible (assuming this does turn out to be politically motivated)? No.

  Could they be indirectly responsible? Yes. Could they have created an environment in which such an act might seem appropriate to someone with mental issues? Absolutely. So I do not agree that it is "stretching credibility" to place on them a modicum of blame.

  The is a question of duty. Do politicians who have a platform from which to disseminate information and incite the passions of their constituents have a responsibility to do so in a manner so as to not give the appearance of promoting violence? I say yes. On this element, Sarah Palin fails.

  I was walking my dog and JWs told me about some good news!

  well, it was a nice morning to take my dog for a walk and about a mile from my home i met a car load of jws working the condos.

  two brothers hit on me before they went back to their car.

  apparently they hadn't been able to talk to anyone this morning -10:30am, so they were eager to find a stooge who would listen to them.. i immediately decided i wouldn't talk about their doctrine, so i jumped on the flood of noah after they got the intros out of the way.

  There goes Sarah's bid for the White House. :) For those of you who have not visited the website to read the comments, I highly recommend it if only for the humor aspect. I am thinking of creating an email of "Sarah Palin Supporter's Sayings" in line with the "Walmart People" emails. One example, paraphrased: I wish Oregon would get in line with the rest of the country. This country is going downhill fast! Hhmm...if the country is going downhill fast, why would Oregon want to get in line? :)

  I do appreciate that Ms. McCain has sent several tweets advocating reducing the rhetoric and the Republican's have cancelled next week's health care debate.

  Also, I was thinking about the shooter and his mental state. I doubt he is that unstable. He did have the presence of mind to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights immediately upon arrest. I hope the police did a good job of respecting that so as to not taint the evidence.
